Rhythm Revolution: Deaf Youth Co-Creating a Multi-Sensory Music & Digital Arts Movement in Stockton

Key Activities

  1. Rhythm Revolutionaries Unite!: Kick-off workshops where participants co-design the project's direction, expressing their musical interests and creative aspirations. Potential partners: ARC Stockton Arts Centre, Stockton Libraries

  2. Sonic Explorations: Hands-on experimentation with vibrational instruments, visual sound installations, and haptic technologies to discover new ways of experiencing and creating music. Project partners: Tees Music Alliance, Musinc

  3. Deaf Digital Storytellers: Participants collaborate with deaf filmmakers and animators at Stockton's Animate Arts Company to produce visual music stories that express their lived experiences and perspectives.

  4. Silent Rave Remixed: Youth-led events featuring DJ sets with visual cues, interactive light installations, and collaborative dance performances at The Georgian Theatre, creating a unique and inclusive party atmosphere.

  5. Tech Takeover: Participants gain skills in music production software, coding, and virtual reality at Stockton Riverside College's digital media labs to design immersive multi-sensory experiences and interactive sound installations.

  6. Rhythm Revolution Showcase: A grand finale where participants unleash their creativity, showcasing their co-created music, digital art, and performances to the community at Preston Park Museum & Grounds. Partners: BBC Tees, local press
